Healthy Hearing Recipe: Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Here is a smoothie recipe high in Vitamin C which will protect you from the cold and flu and also from ear infections.

If you were a fan of our healthy hearing recipe series last month, you’re in luck! We still have a few more healthy hearing foods to get through, so we’re bringing you more recipes throughout the month of February. We’ve already covered Salmon, Broccoli, Bananas, and even some Football Food. Next up: Oranges. Everyone hears time and time again throughout cold and flu season to load up on vitamin C, usually in the form of orange juice or supplements. Vitamin C strengthens your overall immune system, which will protect you from the cold and flu and also from ear infections, which in some circumstances can cause hearing loss. You might want to think twice before you chug that half gallon of orange juice though; most store bought brands (yes, even “100% juice not from concentrate”) are heavily processed and chemically altered. Whip up this easy orange smoothie at home instead. One navel orange has 100% of your recommended daily vitamin C intake, and this smoothie uses two!

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Serves 1 Orange-Smoothie-Audicus-Hearing-Aids

 What you’ll need:

  • 2 navel oranges, peeled and sectioned
  • ¼ cup milk (I used almond milk)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup ice (optional)

 What to do:

  1. Add all ingredients to blender
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Enjoy!
Cheers to your health! Check back next week for a romantic “healthy hearing” 3-course dinner for two. Your S.O. will never need to know that your romantic gesture is really attempt to protect his or her ears.
