Q: What is your role at Audicus, and how did your career path lead you here?
I’m a Sales Team Lead here at Audicus. How I got here - I was laid off from my last job, and I was at a crossroads with where I wanted to take my career. I did some interviews, and decided to go with Audicus versus another company.
Before Audicus, I worked at a B2B company - Dunn and Bradstreet - and before that I was in consumer lending. I was a loan officer for homes; I was helping people to get their loans, buy and refinance loans. When the market fell apart I tried B2B, but then quickly realized I enjoy connecting with people and wanted to go that route. I’d much rather learn about someone's story and find a connection to people.
When I learned about Audicus, I felt close to being here. My nana and I were very close. She passed away, but for years she struggled with hearing loss and we talked about getting her a hearing aid. It was challenging for her to understand me.
After learning more about Audicus, I knew I wanted to be here where there’s a good mission, and where it’s possible for a grandmother to hear her grandkid again. I took that as a sign that this is where I should be.
Q: What advice would you give someone who wants to start a career in Sales, specifically B2C?
The biggest advice I tell my team is to be open to critique and coaching. You should take ownership of where you’re at and where you want to be, and trust in yourself, the process, your peers and coaches.
Find somewhere you want to be, where the mission is one you have passion for.
Q: What’s your favorite part of your job or something you’re really proud of accomplishing here?
I’m proud of where I grew in this role. I started off as an Account Executive, then grew into a Senior Account Executive, and now I’m a Team Lead.
I love the people who I get to talk to on the phone every day and make the best product recommendation.
The best part of this role is always helping someone else, and giving them the chance to once again share moments with their family and friends. If I can, I love helping another grandkid like myself be able to talk to their grandma again.
Q: How do you start your day?
I love to start my day with sunshine and fresh air. I take the dog outside, and be a mom first and foremost.
I drop my daughter off at school, jump into my sales meeting with my two teammates, and set affirmations of what we want to accomplish that day. After that, I get busy on the phones and love chatting with our customers.
Q: What are some of your favorite shows?
I will give a ton of recommendations to anyone who wants to listen! I love the arts; movies and shows are my favorite. I’m a Psycho-thriller gal, I love anything true crime related.
My absolute favorite show is American Horror Story, especially the first few seasons.
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or passion projects?
I’ve started hobbies, but don’t have a lot of finished hobbies. I’ve taken up sewing, crocheting, and running.
I find a lot of joy in experiencing new things. I’m constantly trying to get out of the house on the weekend, go out in nature and spend time with my daughter. We’re peas in a pod, and love being outside together, whether that’s going on a walk, swimming, paddle boarding, or just seeing new things.
I’m a foodie - my family and I always go to try new foods around Des Moines. I was a Yelp elite at one point. I enjoy writing them and having people laugh from my reviews
Q: Fun fact?
When I was in high school, I played very competitive basketball. I tore both of my ACL's, and I had a double ACL replacement surgery.
I’m from Los Angeles, and the doctor who did my replacement surgery told me that not only was I the youngest person in his career who had double ACL surgery, but he also had the opportunity to work on Kobe Bryant!
