You may wonder how to get your hearing evaluated prior to purchasing an Audicus hearing aid. Below are some helpful tips about where to get your hearing tested.
Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor to Assess Hearing Loss
Also referred to as “ENTs,” these doctors often have on-staff audiologists to perform hearing tests. The benefits of visiting an ENT include getting an evaluation by a physician to rule out any underlying medical conditions, and having insurance/Medicare cover the cost of the examination. If you need to find an ENT close to home, visit ZocDoc and type in your zip code.
Addressing Hearing Loss at a Local Audiology Clinic
Audiology clinics exist for the sole purpose of testing hearing and fitting people with hearing aids, so they’re a safe bet as places to get your hearing tested. Hearing tests are typically free here under the assumption that you will purchase hearing aids from the clinic. However, your hearing test is a personal medical record and an audiologist is legally obligated to give it to you. An audiology clinic is a great way to familiarize yourself with different types of hearing aids and provide you with a sense of what you may need.
Hearing Loss Center at Wholesale Store
Many of our customers have informed us that mainstream wholesale stores now have hearing aid centers within them that give free hearing tests and sell hearing aids. They get booked fast, so make sure you call ahead to confirm an appointment. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to be a member of these stores to get your hearing tested. Again, as is the case at the audiology clinic, your hearing test is your personal medical record and you are allowed to take a copy home with you.
